LISS provides up to $2,000 in grant funding for Maryland families of children with disabilities. Funds can be used for services like respite care, therapies, camps, and more. Applications are accepted twice a year through a random selection process.

The Arc Maryland is a statewide nonprofit advocating for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). They work to secure equal rights and opportunities through public policy, family and self-advocacy programs, training, and support services across Maryland

Parents’ Place of Maryland is the state’s federally designated Parent Training & Information Center, providing free one-on-one support, workshops, and resources to families of children with disabilities or special health care needs. Staffed by experienced parents, PPMD helps families navigate IEPs, healthcare, legal rights, and system advocacy. It holds a top 4‑star rating from Charity Navigator and strong local reviews for being knowledgeable, caring, and highly effective

The Down Syndrome Association of Maryland (DSAmd) supports individuals with Down syndrome and their families through education, advocacy, and community programs. They offer resources, new parent outreach, and events like the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome walk.

Parents in Maryland can open a Maryland ABLE (529A) account to save for a child with special needs without affecting SSI or Medicaid. Earnings grow tax-free, and withdrawals for qualified disability expenses are also tax-free. Contributions are deductible up to $2,500 ($5,000 for joint filers) on state income taxes. Up to $100,000 in the account won’t impact SSI, and all funds are protected for Medicaid.

Centria Autism provides individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to help children with autism develop communication, social, and daily living skills. They offer in-home and center-based therapy, including early intervention at the Life Skills Autism Academy for children 5 and under. Board certified Behavior Analysts and technicians deliver evidence-based care to promote independence.
